Der Jabal Akhdar ist ein Gebirge in Oman. Es erstreckt sich auf einer Länge von 300 km von Nordwest nach Südost, etwa 50–100 km von der Küste des Golfs von Oman entfernt. Der höchste Gipfel, der Dschabal Schams (‚Sonnenberg‘), erreicht eine Höhe von etwa 3000 m. Er ist der höchste Punkt des Oman und der östlichen arabischen Halbinsel und liegt etwa 150 km von Maskat entfernt. Ebenso liegt der zweithöchste Punkt des Oman, der Dschabal Kawr, in diesem Gebirge.
Information about the region
Jabal Akhdar is a mountain range in Oman. It stretches over a length of 300 km from north-west to south-east, about 50-100 km from the coast of the Gulf of Oman. The highest peak, the Jabal Shams ('Sun Mountain'), reaches an altitude of around 3000 metres. It is the highest point in Oman and the eastern Arabian Peninsula and is about 150 kilometres from Muscat. The second highest point in Oman, Jabal Kawr, is also located in this mountain range.
